Why is my MacBook Air not recognizing my Apple password?

I have a new MacBook Air and it won’t recognize my apple password. My ipad and iPhone are good, but just this new Mac won’t.

My MacBook is a 2010 model. I want to update Virgin to use the apps. But I don't know which file to use. Thanks.

A MacBook 2010 model — a MacBook is not the same as a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air — is limited to macOS 10.13, and is not supported on newer macOS versions.

If the app you need requires a newer macOS version, you will need a newer or new Mac, or a different way to perform the task.

If you are unsure which Mac you are using, the Apple Menu at the top left has an About This Mac entry, and that entry can show the specific model and macOS version in use.

Where are you that it want you to log into your Apple account? What version of macOS is it running? That machine originally shipped with macOS 10.6. It can go as far as 10.13 (high Sierra) but that's it. That machine is long obsolete.

If you meant "Ventura" instead of "virgin" which you wrote below, that's not going to happen.

The version of macOS that is running may be too old to log in normally any more.

It's been a lot of years, but I seem to recall needing to enter the ID and password differently.
