How do I identify and fix invalid characters in iCloud contacts causing sync issues on iPhone?
6500 Contacts and it's SLOW, but shouldn't be. Always have the wheel and make everything not productive.
Exported 6500 vCard contacts that all work ( on icloud, imac and mac book air ). Zero'd out the icloud contacts and computers. When you import to both computers - it works, but when you sync it doesn't sync to the cloud - it's missing 1500 contacts.
(Same log in - thx). So you can import the contacts 20MB at a time (so like 20 different batches... WT?), but still end up with 5000 contacts, which means your missing 1500, or missing 23% of your contacts. How is that acceptable?
iCloud won't sync still. Contacted Tier 2 numerous times with no answer, and this is where it lies:
- There are invalid characters in some cards, but Apple doesn't know what those characters are. Google search shows to search for the following: , ; # .
- You can't search on contacts for these characters... so Apple wants you to manually search 6500 contacts for characters that they don't know what those characters are? If you can't use those characters, why does contacts let you put them in the contact cards???
- 1500 contacts are missing, but you can't tell which ones, UNLESS you go 1 by 1 and compare.
- Apple's solution is to go through 1 by 1 contact care and manually enter in the computer contact card in the iCloud. This is ridiculous. And even if you did - I'm not sure what characters to not enter in.
- iPhone is missing 23% of the contacts, and Apple has no solution. Apple can't identify bad characters, missing Vcards, etc.
Anyone in this mess and have a way out?
