What's the best MacBook Pro for music production?

I'm about to go into college and later university studying music and predominantly I'm going to be using Logic Pro.

I've recently bought a MacBook Pro 14-inch M4 (base model) and I'm starting to feel it might have been the wrong choice.

Are there any recommendations on if I should keep it or go for the M4 Pro?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.4

The base M4 MBP is absolutely capable of running Logic Pro. My M2 MBA and Mac mini 2018 run the app just fine.

A 512 GB storage capacity is barely enough to home Logic and its sound and effects libraries plus whatever other apps and files you'll need for school. I recommend no less than 1 TB to start.

The 16 GB RAM is workable, but more is better.

Having said this, I agree with @BobTheFisherman's post to check with the university's staff to confirm their best guidance.

Contact the University and ask them what the best computer is for your course of study.
