Why does a new Mac mini's internet connection work for one user but not another?

My new Mac mini will not connect to the internet. I spent over an hour on the phone to apple but they couldn't fix it! It has worked OK for 3 months then the internet connection stopped working, wired and WIFI stopped connecting. I backed up and reinstalled the OS but it still will not connect to the internet. I set up a new user and low and behold the second user has got internet connection OK. Has anyone had this problem please?

That's like saying that because grandpa smoked and lived to a hundred it's perfectly safe to smoke.

Many people use CMM and don't notice any problems but many do.

Macs are designed to work perfectly without the aid of "cleaning" software or any other "optimiser" or "security" gubbins.

These apps often mess with things that should be left alone and do more harm than good.

The makers are preying on the unfounded fears of the public.

Anyway my main comment was with regard to the Norton app which may or may not be a VPN.

As I mentioned, 2 of my 3 minis lost internet connection completely and switching off my VPN cured it instantly. I later switched it back on and all was well.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I am running 6 computers 3 iPads and an iPhone and have been using home computers with thousands of apps for 40 years with no problems. I then buy a new Mac mini and it's all turning to excrement. That is far too much of a coincidence to me, so I will wipe it and give it to the grandkids to mess about with.

Forgot to ask did the dodgy third party app Etrecheck report tell us anything new, no, so as its a third party app I will not use it again

I reviewed the Etrecheck report and have to say there is quite a bit on this system that is of concern. I suspect that a migration was done from another Mac and things got carried over that don't belong on an Apple Silicon Mac. I would wipe this machine and start over from scratch. In the process I would get rid of the following and anything else that isn't actually required on this Mac; and do fresh installs (from scratch) of any needed apps or drivers.

CleanMyMac

Norton LifeLock, etc.

INTEGO Washing Machine

WD1394 drivers

Samsung drivers

Multiple HP, Lexmark & Canon printer drivers

x86 Monitoring

... and there may be more
