What are the benefits of 24GB vs. 16GB RAM for regular users?

16GB is ideal for browsing online, streaming movies, light editing for photos and videos, gaming, and running multiple everyday productivity apps.

24GB is recommended if you will be multitasking across a large number of memory-intensive apps, including high end audio and high-resolution video editing.

Ultimately, if money is a factor, she would be fine with 16GB of memory. If money is no issue, upgrade it to 24GB for longevity.

Getting more memory may help extending the life of the computer if the apps she uses require more memory in the future as they are upgraded or she decides on using different more memory demanding apps. Given the choice I would always get the most memory I could afford.

Almost no one ever regretted getting more RAM or more storage. Lots of people regret getting too little. If your wife can afford the 24, I'd say go for it.

The additional memory will help with better graphics. The memory is shared with the graphics subsystem in the processor, therefore more memory helps with higher resolution graphics.
