What do I do when a HP printer does not work with MacBook Pro running macOS Sonoma?

HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e is not allowing me to connect via USB and print a simple Pages document.

Apparently I am supposed to start using something called AirSomething.

I want to plug in my USB printer and print my documents. This is normal computer functionality. If Apple cannot provide normal functionality, why did I just pay over $2500 for a new laptop?

AirPrint - Wireless Printing from Apple devices.

Set up the HP printer with AirPrint in macOS - HP Support

I prefer AirPrint over USB printing for the simple reason that I don't have to take my computer to the printer and plug in. If I want to I can print from the couch, studio or bedroom. Plus, no drivers required to be downloaded, installed and updated.

USB printing is old skool.
