Single click on left/right not working on my MacBook Air running macOS Sonoma

when i left click to drag or right click on a file the file opens! dont want it to open the file, want to drag it or get drop down menu. how can I change this command to a normal single click right and left click?

Are you using the built-in trackpad in a MacBook Air? Or some other pointing device?


In addition to the great suggestion by HWTech to switch off "force click", you may also want to

change the speed of a double-click, and of "spring-loading"

in System Settings->Accessibility->Pointer Control. Try changing these two sliders a bit left of center; and if you don't want spring loading at all, just turn it off.





You may also try turning off "tap to click" in System Settings->Trackpad.
