when i left click to drag or right click on a file the file opens! dont want it to open the file, want to drag it or get drop down menu. how can I change this command to a normal single click right and left click?

Are you using the built-in trackpad in a MacBook Air? Or some other pointing device?
In addition to the great suggestion by HWTech to switch off "force click", you may also want to
change the speed of a double-click, and of "spring-loading"
in System Settings->Accessibility->Pointer Control. Try changing these two sliders a bit left of center; and if you don't want spring loading at all, just turn it off.
You may also try turning off "tap to click" in System Settings->Trackpad.
Perhaps you are having an issue with the Haptic touch feature of the Trackpad. I have never been able to learn how to properly use the new style haptic clicks. Try turning off the "Force click and haptic feedback" Trackpad System Settings to see if that makes any difference for you.
