How do I transfer music from an old iPod to a new Mac without iTunes?

hi I've recently found my old iPod from my college days. I also just bought my first MAC. I saw that I tunes is no longer available. is it possible to transfer my music from my old iPod to my new Mac? if so do I need special software? I tried just plugging it in with a 30pin to a c to my MAC. the iPod shows up on the left of the screen and disappears almost right away. anyway any tips/help would gladly be appreciated.

You will need to purchase touchcopy or imazing to export the music from your ipod to mac.
