Play Counts Not Updating in Apple Music on MacBook

Apple music on MacBook has stopped updating play counts. I'm not talking about syncing across devices (which has always been iffy) or anything complicated. Just simple tracks on Apple Music on a simple Apple laptop.


It worked up to 4/17/25 at 3:45 p.m., but it hasn't recorded plays from that point forward. This goes for songs in the cloud and those on the laptop itself.


I've tried logging out of iCloud and back in (in itself a headache), but that hasn't worked. I've also tried restarting, quitting from the App and re-opening it, et cetera, but all to no avail.


I'm on a MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.6.1. The Apple Music version is 1.4.6.32. Everything's up to date.


Anyone have any ideas I haven't yet tried?
