I am trying to download Blender to my 2015 MacBook,currently running the most recent update, macOS Monterey 17.7.6. I have tried to select several versions; once installed each version says it is the wrong kind. I have tried both the x64 and the arm64 versions. Any help would be fantastic! Thank you :)

You need to use the x64 version for an Intel Mac.
According to the following Blender article, it seems like the current download for v4.4.1 on the main page is compatible with macOS Big Sur and later (so Monterey should work) as long as you select the x64 version:

Blender v4.4.1 can run on Intel Macs; however, the ViewPort Shader feature on Blender 4.4.1 does not work on Intel Macs that run on Mac OS 12 and below. :-( The feature causes Blender to freeze or crash due to the AMD Radeon graphic card.
