Why is Apple Pay declining my card even though it works elsewhere?

I've added my debit card to Apple Pay successfully, and it shows as active in the Wallet app. However, every time I try to use it at a store that accepts Apple Pay, the transaction gets declined. The same card works perfectly when I use it physically or for online payments outside of Apple Pay. I've tried restarting my device and removing/re-adding the card, but the issue persists. Has anyone experienced this or know what could be causing the problem?

Apple is not a bank and cannot approve or decline a transaction. The issuing bank is who approves or declines transactions. Apple Pay encrypts your personal and financial data. This keeps your transactions safe from merchants selling your personal information and hackers obtaining data from merchants systems.

Check with the issuing bank and confirm they even received the data. Most likely the merchant or merchant's credit card processor had network issues involving Apple Pay.

Some banks allow you to lock cards in electronic wallets. Make sure everything is clear on the banks end.
