I was browsing the band Japan’s discography and noticed that they had a recent single—strange considering they disbanded for good decades ago. Listening to the single, “Freestyle”, it had no resemblance to the band’s other works nor did it sound like any of the original members had collaborated on it. Looking elsewhere, I found no evidence that the single was related to the original band, leading me to believe it was fraudulently uploaded under their name. Although I cannot think of any previous examples of this happening at the moment, I am almost certain I have seen it happen with other artists. I don’t know if Apple’s background checking is not sufficient or it was just a simple mistake, but something is definitely wrong here.

Upper/Lower case letters on song/album titles, and another artist with same name appearing on my Apple Music for Artists. My band have a single releasing on 24/06/2023 and an EP releasing on 08/07/2023. We have access to our Apple Music For Artists and used Distrokid as our distributor. Our song titles were submitted all lower case and the EP title in all capitals. Apple Music/iTunes have standardised the lettering for everything (no other streaming services have done this) and I was wondering if it was possible to change this. Also, when editing our Apple Music For Artists page (cover photo etc.) I noticed another band, who have the same name, appeared on our page. They have a release on 30/06/2023 - I was also wondering if they separate upon our respective releases.

Incorrect Artist Information Is there a way to report errors in music being associated with an incorrect artist? I was notified there was a new release by Enigma, but it isn’t Enigma… it’s another artist using his name. How do we rectify? Thank you!

You can try using Feedback - Apple Music - Apple to let Apple know. Or reach out to the band to let them know so they can get their people to sort it out.

For the record, Zebra is a band out of both New Orleans, LA and Long Island, NY. Their hits include, “Who’s Behind the Door” and “Bears.”
