Problems after update from Monterey to Ventura

I have a 2019 27 inch Intel iMac. It was running perfectly with Montery but after system update I have major problems. History is:

  • Updated from Monterey to Sequoia but found several problems
    • Photos not working
    • Mail not working - couldn't access Exchange account
    • System settings not working - including no Apple ID
    • Time Machine incredibly slow
  • Used disk utility to erase, re-installed Monterey, and recovered from Time Machine backup
  • Still needed to update from Monterey for Microsoft Word updates, so updated to Ventura
  • Similar problems with Ventura to those with Sequoia
  • Attempted to reinstall Ventura from Recovery
    • Process was incredibly slow - left overnight and update stalled
    • Shut down and re-started - went straight into Internet Recovery
    • Disk Utility Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD-Data have disappeared
    • APPLE SSD has a volume disk0s2 which cannot be mounted
    • APPLE HDD has a volume disk1s2 that cannot be mounted

I just want my computer to work again - I have relatively recent Time Machine backups, so I'm not bothered about losing a few files. Any advice gratefully received!

Perhaps your drive configuration has become unpaired, or shows two

storage drives with one of them a rotational HDD and smaller SSD?

These need to be bonded or paired in order to run correctly.

This is referred to as a Fusion Drive. And with macOS, also

the actual system, would be divided into two parts; One is

used by the System data, the other, is your files, separately.

A Fusion drive won't work once broken into two.

There may be a hardware issue -- or the two

might be repaired and made to work as one.

However once these fail to work together, cure

maybe you need to replace a failed drive unit.

[And that iMac might be rather labor intensive

since the display likely is glued into the case..]

You may correctly identify the iMac, exactly.

'About this Mac' is OK, but don't show Serial

Numbers; security risks may be higher then.

And run an EtreCheck report, set it so it gets
