Listen to Spotify on Facetime WITHOUT shareplay

My long distance partner and I like to work together on Facetime. Neither of us is talking to the other, we just like to work in each other's company. I usually listen to music when I work, however when I try to listen to Spotify, the music sounds muffled. If I use SharePlay, the music comes through perfectly normal, but my partner doesn't want to listen to my music so I don't want to SharePlay. Is there a work around to the muffled audio problem? Thanks!
