How do I fix 'The document is on a volume that does not support permanent version storage' error in Pages on M3 Mac?

This pops up sometimes when I try to save a Pages document. An answer in the Community was to give Pages "full disk access". I did that but it still happens. Using an M3 Mac with Sequoia 15.3.2.

Pages 12.1 on M1 MacBook Air won't open Pages '09 documents When I try to open my Pages '09 templates with Pages 12.1 on my M1 MacBook Air, I get an error message that says "Untitled" can't be opened right now. Pages couldn't read the file..." The weird thing is that if I highlight the file in Finder and press the space bar, it gives me a preview of the file. Any help would be appreciated. Unable to Save Files I'm working on a 2020 MBP (Intel) , Sonoma 14.0 OS What's happening is that I go to save a document in Word for Mac through "Save As" on the File menu. I get a dialog box with the last file name in the file name field. However, I cannot scroll through the directory at hand to pick another name or make sure I am using the same naming convention. It is greyed out. I can go to the file name field at the top of the dialog box, but it will not let me delete the entire file name. I have to click on the name and delete characters and replace them with others. Then, when I go to save with Command Save, I cannot save. I have to press "Save" on the MacBook Pro Touch Bar at the top of the keyboard. Separate from this, I sometimes have difficulty getting the MacBook Pro keyboard to translate to letters or numbers on the screen. It is as though the keyboard needs to warm up or something. After typing spaces into the authentication or password field for awhile, the spaces finally show up and I can delete them and type in my password. Any idea with this constellation of symptoms what is going on? Thanks, Carol Mattick

Move the document back to your Documents folder on your startup drive. Some remotely mounted, or formatted external drives are in the wrong format or may be read-only, and Pages is providing you with a subtle hint. If it cannot perform version updates, it cannot autosave either.
