Running MIDI with Garageband

The most relevant post I read on this topic was from 2020 so I'm hoping there's an update.

I have my Roland Juno-DS connected to my Macbook and running Garageband. Has Apple finally made it possible for me to use my own instrument sounds as I record tracks or do I have to use the software's version of, say, a french horn? If I can't run it directly from my keyboard to my Mac, is there a third device that will allow me to use my costly keyboard, which I bought for the sole purpose of recording my instrument settings not Apple's?
