I have an iPhone16 and in settings I have the ‘change with buttons’ for sound swiched off but can still alter with volume or accidentally put it on silent with the volume button. How can I fix this?

So is there a way of switching off the buttons on the side if my phone so that they do not control the volume and turning the ring to silent mode?

That is the way that it is designed to work. The "Change with Buttons" feature being off keeps the regular volume changes in music etc from affecting the alarm and other similar options from changing.
