How do I prevent music from stopping when Mac mini display is put to sleep?

When I put the display to sleep (via Finder menu or assigned hot-corner), the music being played stops. I’ve already checked “Prevent computer from sleeping when display is off” in Energy settings (the default?)…. How can I play music but have the screen dark?

We set it and next day the we find the screensaver on and the machine is asleep. Is there some hidden max repeat limit or some other dynamic at play? Any insights would be welcomed.

Music app quits as soon as it starts MacOS Sonoma 14.0 Music app 1.4 iMac Pro 2017 I have two displays, change the display arrangements to extended with no change in quitting of the app It started after I updated the system to Sonoma, today I updated the system software but it did not help. Any suggestions?

First, do not use sleep, only causes issues. Do not use hot corners to initiate sleep. Just have screen turn off after a set time. I have no issue with music continuing after screen is off.

You will want the "Screensaver" option for your Hot Corners option.
