How to resolve excessive 'System data' usage on Mac mini after updating to macOS 15.3?

'System data' on my M1 Mini is suddenly using a vast amount of disk space after updating to 15.3. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. I've read the answer that it's 'normal' and I've also read the answer that Apple is using it to upload my pictures to check if they're 'illegal'. I have one answer to that that is unprintable.

Really though?

Thanks. I has just reinstalled and put my data back and not going to do it again unless I must. In my case and many others I think it was the medianalysisd cache found in the library; finding and deleting it solved the space issue though it immediately began growing again. This looks like poor programming at best and spying at worst and I don't like it.
