Books app won't open or delete documents on iPad

iPad (7th generation) with a number of mostly PDF documents. Updated to iOS 18. Within the past two weeks Books has stopped opening documents. Tapping on a document icon no longer opens the doc.he app opens without a problem. Same documents still open in Books on other devices tied to my iCloud account.

Tried a restart. Tried to delete individual downloads from the iPad, as well as all downloads. Books will not delete the downloads or open the docs.

See if closing the app and a force restart helps:

If your iPad won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

You could also delete the app and download it again from the App Store. And turn off iCloud for Books and turn it back on.

I forced the app to close before restarting the iPad. Wanted to check in here before I did the "delete app" thing. Checked memory and storage (only about half the storage in use). And now my AppleTV isn't putting out an HDMI signal, either, just not a good hardware week.
