New MacBook Air is not showing option to allow iphone notifications

I have the same problem for months after migrated to Macmini M4, the notification from iphone and iphone widgets were broken.However now I might find a simple solution. Just find another iphone, login with the same icloud account you are using on the Mac, than you shoul see there are two iphones in system preference-> desktop and dock-> widgets. Select the new iphone you just logged in and then select back to the iphone you want to use. Now you should see the notification from iphone is showing up. Log out the icloud account on the second iphone then every thing should be working.

Exact same thing for me too - went from an M1 Max 14in Pro to the new M4 Air 15". The notifications worked great on my M1 Max, but am completely missing the toggle for iPhone notifications in settings. Tried a couple things with an apple service worker but nothing worked. Submitted a support ticket that same day and haven't heard back yet. I noted too that both phone and computer were running the Beta's of their software, but now that 15.4 and 18.4 have officially come out today, the issue is persisting through the official release.

More testing after upgrading yesterday to 15.4 and 18.4. And I found the following: I too, am able to search in System Systems for “iPhone” and can toggle on Allow Notifications from iPhone, but after closing System Settings and reopening, the toggle and statement for Allow Notifications from iPhone is gone. I do not receive any notifications from iPhone on my MacBook Air M4. iPhone mirroring works fine. So does Hand off.

Interesting. When I create a new user account I can't connect to my Iphone at all. Did you have to log out of iCloud in your main account?

Anyways, that's a lot of work just to fix this issue.

It seems everyone here has used Migration Assistant, so I agree with you that it might be the cause of this bug.

This is driving me crazy. It's clear from this thread that this is a bug that affects anyone who's done a restore from time machine migrating from one Mac to another. I had this feature working perfectly on my old macbook Air and then migrated to a mac Mini. Ever since then, on every updated build of macOS, I don't have this feature even showing in settings, notifications. But, if I search "iphone" in settings, I find the feature and can toggle it on but only until I close settings app and it's then off and gone, again. There has got to be some sort of real solution or workaround other than creating an entire new account on macOS. I have way too many settings to even consider doing that. Please, if anyone has found a way to get around this, let us all know! This is so frustrating!

However, this is not practical for me. I have over 100GB of data to migrate. That is why I used MA to copy the data from one MacBook Air to another New MacBook Air. I firmly believe this is an issue/bug/glitch that Apple NEEDS to resolve; especially since I used Apple's "built-in, already loaded on their devices" MA that ALL Apple's documentation and the SA encourage to you use when setting up a new Mac device.

I luckily have a work iPhone; I had to remove the management profile to make it show up in Widgets, but I did exactly as you said. I then quit System Settings and reopened it and the iPhone notification settings are now showing up!

I also just tried a test notification by logging into YouTube in a private browsing window and my iPhone notifications are indeed appearing on my Mac again.

Thanks so much for this suggestion. I'm glad I've been checking this thread regularly and I hope others see this. I also strongly suggest that we all send a bug report to Apple via the below webpage. It would be worth mentioning this fix so they can look into it further.

Thank you, this worked for me too! I had used migration assistant from an M1 Pro MacBook Pro to an M4 Max Mac Studio back in March and never had iPhone notifications on the Studio. I also have spent many hours troubleshooting with Apple Support, with no success until this.

I was able to use my wife's iPhone (signing out of her apple account and into mine on it) as I don't have a spare. One thing I noticed was that until I rebooted my Mac some of the apps were missing in the list of iPhone notifications on the Mac.

I was having this same issue earlier today, later I bought a iCloud storage plan and I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not but when I bought the storage this feature started working again right at the same time. If someone else has this problem I'd say try buying the cheapest storage option and see if it works

When I got the new MacBook Air with macOS 15.5, it was working fine. When I updated it yesterday, i ran into this issue. Contacted support, reinstalled OS, tried all possible solutions from the internet, still no luck. Any working fixes from anyone are appreciated, thanks.

Right - we tried that too, and even when I did, my iPhone was still linked to my other user account and wouldn't let me double up on connect users.

Does anyone have any updates or found resolution to iPhone notifications not working and the setting "disappearing"?

Yes, though I suspect the model doesn't matter since notifications work again if I create a new user.
