Why does Universal Control stop working between iPad Air 5th gen and Mac mini m4?

Universal control between iPad Air 5th and Mac mini m4 works for a while and then it stops. The only way to make it work again is to open iPad Bluetooth preference pane. As soon as you to to the iPad bluetooth pref pane UC works again. Until it stops again...
