That's not going to happen.

As far as I know, in 41 years of Macintosh history, there has never been a case where a Mac hit the end of the line, and Apple later changed their minds and made newer versions of the operating system compatible with it.

For the 2017 MacBook Air, the end of the line is Monterey. Full stop.

There are applications that will run on Monterey and that can extend the useful life of that machine – like Firefox, LibreOffice, and the commercial Affinity V2 suite (Photo, Designer, and Publisher). Hopefully you already have a number of the applications that you need. Or you can buy a new Mac that is compatible with newer versions of macOS. But as far as "no more major macOS upgrades for that machine" – it is what it is.

Get a New or newer computer.

if you have a Need and not a Want for newer version of macOS

Notation - Some devices, depending on the computers age, may have little to no value at Trade In time.

But at least the device will not arrive to the Land Fill Site and be recycled in a responsible way by Apple
