Wifi icon missing on iPad Air (M3)

I have a brand new iPad Air (M3). After transferring everything from my old iPad, the network connection on the new iPad is weird. iPad is wifi only. Settings says wifi is connected. Safari is able to access the internet. But the wifi icon doesn’t show in the top right corner of the screen and some apps think there is no internet connection.

All other devices have no problem with internet connection.

What I’ve tried so far:

• power off iPad
• reset network settings
