Option Key while starting Logic Pro

When I open Logic all plug ins are disabled unless I hold down the option key while booting. Logic opens and doesn't invite me to make a new project.

If I open old songs they open super quickly and all the audio plug ins are disabled and play back stops after 1 bar.

If I hold down Option while booting Logic behaves normally.

Is there a way to reverse this so Logic behaves normally.

Hi,

Do you men hold "ctrl"? Holding Option will open up a Project Alternatives window should you want to select an alternative and back-up.

If you want Logic to invite you to open a new project, you have to tell it to in Settings>Genereal>Start-Up Action:

The rest of the behavior sounds like a corrupt session. Can you try this on a new session and confirm the same behavior?

Many thanks for the reply.

So basically if I open Logic it opens as if 'Do Nothing' is selected regardless of the actual selection. If I create a new project , or open an existing project then all the audio plug ins are kind of greyed out and inaccessible. Any song will then play for a bar and stop.

If I press option while opening Logic (not opening a song from the menu that appears above the dock icon) the audio engine seems to be re enabled. I can then open old projects normally and all the plug ins load.

For the moment it is working as expected, however this problem has been cropping up from time to time for the last few months.

I have been working with this program for 13 years and I assure you this is most likely not the case. I hope this video helps:

Where Are My Logic Pro Files? Default Saving Path (Lose Your Logic Pro Window/Screen? WATCH THIS!!!)

I think you might be opening a session, but the window itself is not open. In other words, Logic Pro is open, but the session window is closed.

There are times where the core audio function is disabled so plug-ins will show up disabled with orange marks.

Glad things are working well now.

Hope this helped,
