Apple Trade In Email - Is this a scam?

Just received an email from "Apple" (email is shipment_inquiries@apple.com) that reads...

We have received your trade-in return but the item in the trade-in kit does not match what we were expecting. We're looking into the issue. To help resolve this issue as soon as possible, please reply to this email within the next 2 business days with the description of the specific item(s) you shipped to us.

We'll contact you when we have a resolution.

They do have the correct order number, but still - shouldn't they know the "description of the specific item(s)" that I shipped to them?

Sounds like a scam to me.

Is it?
