How to transfer music from cd to iphone with new itunes

I am trying to copy music from a CD to my iPhone via a PC using itunes and instructions in the community. It worked once, but then I was encouraged to download the new itunes app, which I did. Now I can get the music to transfer from CD to PC, but it does not show up in my Apple Music nor can I find it anywhere else on the PC. So unable to complete the next step, which is to use itunes to sync to the iphone.

iPhone 13, iOS 18

Apple Music doesn't support ripping CDs. If iTunes is still installed you can use that to rip a CD and it will show as an audiobook. You can then show those files in Windows Explorer and copy them to the Automatically Add to Music folder inside your library's media folder. Or you could uninstall Apple Music/TV/Devices and restore proper functionality to iTunes.

Thanks. Our good friends at Microsoft encouraged me to remove the old version of iTunes for Windows before they would install the new version. So, it is gone. Tried Recovery, but I guess I have overwritten at least part of the original install so unable to recover. MS will not let me install the old version even if I ask for it. On to plan B.
