Imports from SD card reader to Iphone 16 Pro Max

since getting the Iphone 16 pro max i haven’t been able to use my SD card adapter as my phone just isn’t recognising it and it won’t come up on my files or photos. Has anyone had the same problem, i’m wondering if it’s got something to do with the factory settings

Import photos and videos

Connect the adapter to your iPhone or iPad.
Connect your digital camera to the adapter by USB, or insert an SD card.
Open Photos, then tap your SD card or digital camera in the Devices section. ...
