Cancel AppleCare+ On A Device I've Gifted
Hello, I have a unique issue that I tried searching for on this forum but had no luck finding someone with a similar issue. Long story short about ~3 years ago I gifted my now Ex-Girlfriend a 2020 M1 Macbook Air. It was purchased brand new at an official Apple Store & paid for with a Apple Credit card in MY name. I can't remember exactly how long, but I believe it came with a free year of AppleCare+.
It's been a while now & we have broken up since then and have not been in contact in some time now, which is were the issue arises! I got an email earlier this week that AppleCare+ was about to expire for said Macbook and it will auto-renew on the 22nd of March and I will be charged $64.99. Obviously, I want to cancel this subscription but I don't have physical access to the device! I called the Apple support number and let them know about the situation and they basically told me I'm SOL because the device doesn't belong to me... Which makes no sense as the device was purchased by me with my card. Has anyone had this issue before or familiar with any solutions for this issue? I know it seems petty but I don't want to contact her just to say hey...cancel AppleCare+ so I don't get charged for it!
Any assistant is super appreciated!
