final cut pro - clip super zoomed in when enabling stabilization??

The clip looks very blurry, I can tell the video is now way zoomed in. I tried reinserting the clip from the original footage, and it still ended up like that when I enabled stabilization. What's weird is that I've stabilized all the other clips...

It is a very old video 1984-86, so there is excessive shaking.

Files taken with recent digital cameras are relatively easy to stabilize. Stabilizing older videos is difficult.

I shoot with a Sony camera. Sony users can use the free app "CatalystBrowse" to achieve powerful image stabilization.
