Network accounts are unavailable

After binding MacBook to Active Directory at forst I'm getting the Other... icon for login to network account but after restart the option is gone and I have no idea why.

After logging in on a local account and going to System Settings > Users & Groups > NetworkAccount server has a green dot and shows that "Domain is responding normally" when I click on Edit.

How can I get the Other.. option to login to a network account consistently, why does it vanish?

I have tried this on severeal different MacBooks, 4 of them in total, the behaviour is the same.

Check the directory server logs, too.

Where are are the logs stored? I'm looking in /var/log and /library/logs but can't find something that connects to the Directory Utility...

The related logs are stored either on the directory server, or wherever the server has been configured to transfer them.
