How do I find the address of a file server for data transfer on Mac?

To transfer information to my new MacBook Pro from my old MacBook Air, I need to enter the address of a file server. I don't know what that is or where to find it.

finder > New Finder window > starting at top level > Network > ...

...at this point it will Discover all local servers and show you their names.
