iMac "Find My" location is ON as seen on Desktop, but it's OFF as seen on "My Devices" in my Apple Account.

I was looking at my devices on my Apple account and noticed that my iMac says "Find My Mac OFF". But when I checked my iMac computer settings, it has Find My Mac turned ON. How can I fix this discrepancy? I'd like to see that "Find My Mac" is ON in my account in case I ever need to use this feature. Thanks for any advice.

iMac 27″, macOS 14.6

First restart the computer in Safe Mode and then restart normally and retest. If that does not solve the issue then please answer:

Are you running ANY of the following types of third party apps:

  • Antivirus
  • Cleaning
  • Security
  • VPN
  • Maintenance

If the answer is yes on any of these, there is an excellent chance that is the cause of the problem. Not only are these types of apps 100% worthless they cause more problems than any "help" they provide.

If you do not run any of these types of apps and the problem is still there after the Safe Mode restart then research your System Settings to ensure FindMy is still setup correctly per Set up Find My on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac - Apple Support
