Upgrading to Sonoma from Monterey 12.7.6

Currently running my iMac Retina 2019 on Monterey 12.7.6. Happy with the way it operates but considering upgrading.

Can I update to Sonoma directly from Monterey skipping over Ventura entirely?

What are the advantages of Sonoma over Monterey or even Ventura. Any disadvantages?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Ventura features: macOS Ventura brings powerful productivity tools, new Continuity features to Mac - Apple

Sonoma features: macOS Sonoma brings new capabilities for elevating productivity and creativity - Apple

Sequoia features: macOS Sequoia - Apple

In addition to features, there are security reasons to upgrade. See: Apple security releases - Apple Support

You can upgrade directly to any of the above. Personally I would upgrade to the current Sequoia.

Be sure to have a current backup (recommended even when not upgrading).

For Ventura or Sonoma, see: How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

For Sequoia, see: How to upgrade to macOS Sequoia - Apple Support
