Cannot search photos using apple intelligence

I wanted to try the ability to look up a photo using apple intelligence, but no matter how many common terms I put in, I get “no results”; when I search using an IPhone (without apple intelligence) that has the same data stored via iCloud, it comes up. What the heck does that mean? I just wanted to try out a new feature and I can't search for anything, please help.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.3

You may need to wait for Photos to scan through all the pictures. It's not like you type "tree" and Photos starts searching for pictures with trees-- Photos does the searching before you ever ask, and it puts "tree" next to the picture's line in the database. But that means you have to wait for the scanning to be finished before you can use it.

This is what I get when I search for Tree

The search does not involve Apple Intelligence.

It can take quite a time (like weeks) for Photos to scan all your pictures. Scanning pictures for objects does require a lot of computing power-- so much that it would interfere with your using the phone for other things. So it doesn't scan when you're using the phone or when it's running on battery. Be sure at night to leave the phone plugged in (maybe better using the USBc port) and locked with good internet.
