Apple Intelligence Feature Erased My Handwritten Note – No Option to Recover Lost Data

Hi everyone,

I recently had a frustrating experience with Apple Notes and the new Apple Intelligence feature that I want to warn you about. Over several days, I had been using my iPad to write a lengthy, multi-page note entirely by hand, which contained important information. When I tried to access the note on my Mac (my iPad wasn’t with me), I wanted to add some typed text, but the option to type wasn’t available.

Thinking Apple Intelligence could help, I clicked on its icon for assistance and asked it what I could do. The answer it gave me got written in the note itself, deleting the entire content, including all the handwritten pages, without any warning or confirmation. I immediately tried to undo the action, but the "undo" option was unavailable, and there was no version history or recovery method to retrieve the lost content. Days of work were lost in an instant. This is a serious issue, especially for a feature meant to assist users. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I'm perplexed 😐

Exactly the same for me, but with a typed note. Asked ‘Intelligence’ for a Word Count and it deleted the note and then ‘helpfully’ replaced it with text stating the number of words in the now-deleted note. No option to undo.
