how to directly connect macbook m2 with 2011 macbook air

All my costly Adobe programs are on my Macbook Air mid 2011, which I now use infrequently since I retired, but I still do the occasional job. I don't want to update the OS Sierra 10.12.6 software because then the Adobe programs will not work. I now work on a new M2 Macbook Air. How can I connect these two quickly and easily to exchange files?

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 15.2

macOS supports SMB sharing, which means you can have specific folders accessible on any local computer.

There are various Adobe apps too, and most if not all have alternatives. Which Adobe apps are you using?

For instance: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/ and Affinity goes on sale occasionally, too.
