Cannot set up custom greeting for new iPhone 16

On my new iPhone 16, I cannot set up a custom voicemail greeting. Going to phone/voice mail/greeting I get a pop up stating "This operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.mobile-phone error 1034.)"

The latter should be bulletproof… it is a phone, after all.

i-Phone 12 won't let me record new voicemail greeting I keep trying to change my voicemail greeting but am getting an error every time I try to save it. My name recently changed so I really want to get it set up. I can't seem to find any tips or help online, I'm hoping someone here can help. *I originally set up the existing voicemail greeting when I had my old i-Phone 11; I haven't attempted to record a greeting since getting the 12.

Contact your carrier for support, voicemail is a service of theirs.

Contact your carrier. They are responsible for voicemail. That error has to do with their connection.
