What are the system fonts on iPhone and can they be used to change app fonts?

I was wondering, what are the system fonts for on the iPhone? What are they used for? Can they be used to change the fonts within the phone like your messaging and other apps?

These are the fonts installed with iOS:


System Fonts - Fonts - Apple Developer


The system font is San Francisco, which you will not see in the linked list above. You also will not find it anywhere in any apps on your devices as it is intentionally hidden.


You cannot choose fonts in Messages. You can choose any available fonts you want in Mail. See this topic:
