iPad Air (5th Gen) doesn't sense my finger but senses Apple Pencil after updating to 18.3.1

Hello,

My Ipad Air stopped sensing my finger after I updated the 18.3.1 update. Before that, it lagged a bit, so I thought I should update it, after the update, it stopped sensing my finger, but the button sensed. There is no crash, or anything like that. And there was no liquid or anything. It stopped after the update. What should I do? (I restarted many times.)

If your iPad is not operating as expected, connect your iPad to its Power Adapter and allow the iPad to charge. While connected the Power Adapter, perform a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated or post-update software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively and perhaps easier, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion.

Unfortunately, I tried everything and I went to an Apple Partner store. They told me there are two screens, and the screen that senses the pencil is okay, but the finger is not. Even though it is very unreal and a bad explanation to me, I gave up doing anything because Apple is not fixing the iPads according to the store. The problem IS there was NO PROBLEM before the update. It was working properly. And it is NOT my fault, there is no stretches, no broken screen, or anything. It happened because of the update. And still, the pencil is working. But because I reset, and need to swipe to open (!) I cannot use it even with the pencil. I bought this iPad 3 years ago. I regret every piece of money I gave.

Have a good day.
