Siri not reading back confirmation codes in messages since latest ios update

Hi

I have a physical disability and I'm a big user of voice control on the iPhone.

I get a lot of text messages when signing into different sites that require two factor authentication (2FA) and my usual way is to ask Siri to "read my last message" to get the sent 2FA code which can then enter into the website without having to look at my phone.

This used to work perfectly for me, however, with the recent iOS update (I'm on 18.1.1) Siri no longer will read out the code and instead just leave it blank – reading all the other words around it.

Obviously this must be for security purposes but I thought surely this would be a choice and a way to turn off in accessibility preferences or Siri preferences or similar – yet I can't find anything – and I can't find anything by searching on the web either.

Has anyone come across this setting (if it exists) or know anything further about this?

Thanks for any help.

Dave
