The bottom and camera button on the right side get extremely hot. Phone is not being charged. Charges fine, no apps running in the back ground.

Are you saying that an "overheating" message appears on the screen and you are informed that the phone needs to cool down?
If not, the phone might be getting warm to hot, but it is not overheating.
If you are still concerned about this.....and you have the time to take the phone in to the Apple Store or authorized Apple service shop to be told that the phone is not overheating.....you can find a list of authorized shops in your area using this link:

Make sure that you take the phone in to the Apple Store or an authorized Apple service shop. A shop claiming to be Apple "Specialists" does not mean that they are authorized by Apple.
An unauthorized shop is often going to try to tell you that the phone needs servicing when it doesn't, and warranty on the phone will be voided if an unauthorized shop pokes around in the phone.
no message, the phone itself is hot. Thank you wasn’t sure if it could be anything else. I am not electronically inclined. I will take it in to a store.
