To force restart your watch, press and hold the Digital Crown and the Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.
Usually these monthly challenges will show up in the Fitness App right at the beginning of each month.
Also check in the Fitness App -> Summary/Awards/Go For It ->Show all
