Speak Selection's Speed Control is Broken

We can adjust the speed in increments of 0.25x, but the actual speed change is inconsistent.

Specifically, 1.25x speed is more like 1.5x or even faster (You can check this by timing the speech of the same content at different playback speeds). How can I fix this? I think this is a bug that Apple has to fix.

If it's a bug, everyone would experience it. I don't run Sonoma anymore but in Sequoia, only trying one test, 1.25x was only slightly faster than expected. I imagine the voice chosen or even the text, and what else is running would all have an effect. I can't imagine it makes a difference to most people, perhaps only to you?
