Managing music files on iPod

As an avid user of both CDs and iPod Classic, I have always been used to saving my CDs to iTunes, and thence to my iPod. I was extremely saddened when Apple discontinued iTunes in favour of Apple Music, which seems to be incompatible with iPod. Please advise what software I should obtain to perform the same operation; ie: CD to iTunes (or replacement) to iPod. I hope you can help. Thank you.

While Apple clearly want to move away from iTunes, it still works much as it always has done. Unless you have installed any of Apple Music for Windows, Apple TV for Windows, or Apple Devices for Windows. Installing any of these limits iTunes to working with audiobooks and podcasts, and removes its device management features. Remove all of the newer apps and keep using iTunes for as long as you can.
