Having to Force Restart iPhone 16 Pro Max weekly

My iPhone 16 Pro Max will not power on after overnight charging on apple charger and cable. I have to Force Restart it to get it to power on. This happens at least once per week or more. The phone is about 4 months old as well. Is this normal? Apple techs have no answer except to replace the phone with an Express Replacement which will cost me since I do not have the extended warranty from apple.

Is repeated Force Restarts harmful to the phone? And is this a hardware issue? The phone does charge to 100% just the same, whether it needs a Forced Restart or not.

You should not be turning it off to charge it. That is a good way to shorten the useful life of your battery.

If you mean it is shutting down on its own, contact Apple support.

Best way:

  • Install the Apple Support app on your iPhone or iPad - you can contact support directly from the app, and the tech will have (with your permission) access to diagnostic data on your device

Other options:

(Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat)
