Apple TV 4K + Sony Bravia 9 TV + Homepods (Pair)

I'm seeking expert advice on configuring my home entertainment setup to achieve a unique audio output. Currently, I have an Apple TV 4K (128 GB) connected to my Sony Bravia 9 TV (K-85XR90). I'd like to integrate a pair of Apple Home Pods into this setup, to simultaneously output audio from both the TV speakers and the Home Pods.

However, according to Apple's technical support team, their system only allows for audio output from either the Home Pods or the TV speakers at any given time. I'm eager to explore alternative solutions that could enable simultaneous audio output from both sources.

Could you kindly share your expertise and suggest potential workarounds or configurations that might achieve my desired outcome?

I know what you’re trying to achieve, I just don’t know if there’s a workaround using the HomePods. I believe some might have tried setting the default audio to tv speakers, adding the HomePods as temporary but it didn’t seem to work. I even tried adding a third large HomePod as a temp but it makes no difference, except in my bedroom that has two paired minis as the default, it gives it a boost.

I'd like to express my gratitude for your input. To provide a clearer understanding of my setup, I'd like to elaborate. My home theater configuration consists of a Sony Bravia 9 TV (K-85XR90) connected to a Sony HT-A7000 Soundbar via eARC, which is further connected to a SA SW5 Subwoofer and SA RS5 Rear Speakers. This setup delivers exceptional audio-visual quality with immersive, room-filling, and dynamic sound.

Additionally, I have an Apple TV 4K (128 GB) connected to my Sony Bravia 9 TV via HDMI 4. However, when I'm not using my HT-A7000 Soundbar, the audio quality from the Sony Bravia 9 TV speakers lacks immersion, room-filling sound, and dynamics.

To address this, I'm interested in integrating Apple HomePods into my setup, with the expectation of achieving simultaneous audio output from both the TV speakers and HomePods. This would create a more engaging and immersive audio experience.

Notably, my current home theater setup utilizes the TV speakers as an additional center channel speaker, providing a more comprehensive audio output. If Apple could develop and configure a solution to enable simultaneous audio output from both the TV speakers and HomePods, it would be a groundbreaking innovation with immense potential.

You can only use one audio output at a time. Tv speakers or Audio system (HomePods)

You can set up the HomePods to be used as the output for tv viewing when not using Apple tv 4K. If the Sony tv has an eARC or ARC HDMI port. Plug the HDMI cable from the Apple TV directly into that port , then go into ATV settings and set the HomePods to be the default audio and also enable the Audio Return Channel. You’ll need to configure other settings in the Sony tv settings as well
