Hallmark Studio Greeting Card program not working on my iMac after updating to Sequoia 15.3

For years I have been using a Hallmark Studio greeting card program that worked very well.

I recently updated (upgraded) my iMac to Sequoia 15.3 and now the Hallmark program crashes.

I have checked with Hallmark and they admit to their program not working with Sequoia ( they are hoping for a patch in the future). So far I have been unable to find a greeting card program that I know will work on Sequoia. Has any one out there have a solution to this situation?

Check out Cardia from Addison Software in the App Store. It does not have a catalog of images but you can find any image you want on the internet and use that. It works with Mojave all the way to the latest Sequoia and is regularly updated. And it's only for Macintosh. No Windows nonsense.

It is now the end of May and it’s still not working. The Windows version was always so easy to use, the Mac version was sometimes persnickety when trying to add photos, probably because it still used iPhoto and Mac had moved to Photos several years ago. That said I did enjoy the user friendliness and hope they update it soon. I always wait until the send me the $19.99 deal which they constantly email me about for their Windows version— and I haven’t used Windows in 14+ years. I know I tried some other card programs a few years ago, but didn’t like them.

Understand that most people update their operating systems upon availability, to maximize security, features, and functionality. We count on App developers to stay on top of such updates and adjust their own updating parameters accordingly. This irresponsible lack of attention by the developer of Card Studio, especially for those of us who only relatively recently upgraded our old-but-goody program, followed a few months later by a new O.S. is highly aggravating. In my case the one or two cards I made since were hardly worth the dozens+ dollars I spent for the Hallmark software and backup disks.

In this instance you are fortunate that you paid no attention to Apple’s upgrade notices. But neither have you available the advantages the newer system(s) provide.

Alas, this saddens me as well, after almost 15 years using Hallmark Card Studio. I started on a PC, and transferred to macOS about 12 years ago. I must have 1000 cards made with this software. Hallmark has been promising an update for months...I wonder if and when? Please Hallmark, make an update soon. I know of no other card software, although there certainly may be. I am going to hold out a few more months...

That would work, but it defeats the purpose of having a Macintosh if you have to deal with the dreaded tasks of setting up a Windows installation and keep it running with it's daily appetite for security updates. And you don't get the ease of use of a Macintosh interface. On the other hand, the Macintosh version of the Hallmark app is just a poorly done port over from Windows so it might not be that far of a jump.

It has stated that for the last 10 weeks. I guess their definition of soon and mine are not the same.

Outfits like Hallmark still treat Mac users like redheaded step children. The only logical reason for that is that they think revenue from Mac users is not that important to their bottom line even though all surveys point to Mac users as more affluent and willing to spend money.

Hallmark likely farms out its software development to third party coders and that could be the reason for the delay.

I'm not reviewing a Hallmark card, but reviewing Hallmark's marketing decision, which is designed to institute a new money-making, income-maximizing scheme. This steal-a-thon system is a despicable, thoughtless venture, which is a far cry from from their former procedure, in which I could find an appropriate card, and rework it to the recipient's pleasure. Unfortunately, Hallmarks greed has ended my participation in Hallmark card-making!

Yeah, and by the time Hallmark comes out (if it comes out at all) with a version that works with Sequoia macOS 26 Tahoe will be out. Will it break it again?

Here’s my delusional optimist point of view. Hallmark is waiting (or is already testing) macOS 26 Tahoe with the new version so it’s ready for release. Hope springs eternal.

My pessimist view is that Hallmark is done with Mac users and leaves us out in the cold.

fredfromorange - THANK You! You were reading my mind. I was just thinking that maybe I should look for another option. For the last 18 weeks, I have had to send store-bought cards, and it really saddens me. I thought maybe CANVA, but I am so novice at that. I will look into this option for sure.

I am so "desperate," I thought about absconding with my husband's old PC and buying Hallmark to run just on that. I am going to try Avery first.

Yes and I don't have stats but if Hallmark thinks the apps are taking away from their card sales, I haven't seen a Hallmark brand card on the shelves in years. Then of course it could be the reason.

In my neck of the woods in the U.S. midwest there are actual Hallmark stores that carry nothing but Hallmark cards and merchandise. Other retailers have entire Hallmark isles. Hallmark is everywhere in my area.

I too am hopeful for an update soon, but my expectation is that it will mirror their iOS app ‘Hallmark Cards Now’ that charges $5 per card and you don’t print them. They allow you to choose them printing and sending or they will email for you for a less undisclosed price using a reward point system.

I’ve not purchased anything from their app, don’t want to reward their new model.

This is the "Top-rated Reply" and I've no doubt it's meritorious.

But the Hallmark software doesn't require surfing for imagery that needs importing or for appropriate text, nor dreaming up any, and the thing is that many of us already have used it and like the convenience it provided in that regard. Often in a hurry to fulfill a time-sensitive mailing, with no room to get to a store, in many of our busy lives convenience then becomes hugely important.

And still, here we wait, many months past when we were told the software was soon coming down the pike. Has anyone consulted the publisher lately, other than We04ndy, who heard the same thing we were told last spring.
