M4, 16 meg memory, over 170 G free hard drive space, but still getting the "Disk too slow" error recording in Garage Band. I was getting that error on my 2021 iMac with M1. 16 meg 20 G hard drive space... is it just a question of too many applications open? I don't feel I've changed anything, including how many open apps, but this is happening.. Could there be a virus or malware involved? Clean My Mac says no . Please advise.

Then in that specific context - it has Mucked Up the Operating System
In which case, the Operating System is hosed

Thanks, did that after the first scan (for free) that showed no viruses or malware. Tried a few others as well, but all showed no problems. Still seeing the error in Garage Band though so looking for other answers.
The app does get 4.6 out of 5 in App Store ratings... so I should start ignoring those when considering apps?
Read the link. CleanMyMac leaves all kinds of detritus around your Mac that is hard to remove.
Also, as in the link, you can get EtreCheck and post the report. This is a non-invasive tool that just gives us a snapshot of what is going on in your mini.

The point is that CleanMyMac might actually be causing the problem, you should remove it.
Thanks again. BTW, I was having these problems (with Garage Band) before using Clean My Mac, so I can't really pin that as the cause.
